SCSF April 2008 Fix for Visual Studio 2008 SP1
Smart Client Software Factory April 2008 Fixed for VS 2008 SP1 (MSI-Package) DOWNLOAD |
Please read NEXT FEW lines carefully to understand if it suits for you.
April’s 2008 official release unfortunately has several known issues on VisualStudio 2008 SP1
This package is provided for you by AAR only as a result of careful applying patches described at the CodePlex SCSF knowledge base website to the Aplil’s source code and a minor repackaging all the result as MSI.
Also this prepackaged version contains some popular binary libraries of two additional products:
These files can be found at «Lib» subdirectory under your installation path. These files are passive i.e. do not affect any exisiting installations of corresponding products.
As well this installation contains HxS Help files from the original Smart Client Software Factory, that will be integrated into VS2008 Help system during installation (the last percent of the installation progress indicator is Help merging, and it takes the most time of the overall process).
So, theoretically, this package can be used as the sufficient standalone replacement of scsf.2008.april.
Samples and Reference implementation of SCSF are not included yet, but can be included later if an appropriate feedback will be received.
Yes, this works fine, thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot for this fix. But the assembly name problem still persists when you create a new business module then on runtime exception occurs that «ModuleName.dll» does not exisit. I thought you might have missed something to remove this bug or what?

2Jiri:
Glad to hear!
2Nazim:
Thank you for your question!
I suppose that you mix old project generated by nonfixed SCSF with the fixed one. Note that new version of SCSF keeps all existing business module entries in ProfileCatalog.xml untouched. If they were incorrectly generated by nonfixed SCSF you have to fix them manually. Simply check dll names specified in ProfileCatalog.xml and the actual content of the Bin/Debug folder of your project. The most probable difference is the absence of the root namespace prefix in names of your business module dlls.
If you still experience problems — can you zip the minimal solution generated purely by this fixed version of SCSF (containing the shell and one busines module) and give me a link here.
Also include into your post detailed step by step repro: How you’ve created this project (which menus you’ve used etc). I’ll try to investigate this during two working days (at most). Also it woud be great to know exact version of VS (including version, edition) and installed libraries related to Microsoft.Practices.
Looking forward to hear from you soon

[…] This is due to the SCSF guidance being incompatible with VS 2008 SP1. The is a fix on Codeplex, but it requires you to recompile the guidance package — I have dont this, and can confirm that the fix i working properly. In stead you can download and the custom SCSF installer packaged by Artazor which includes this fix here. […]

Hi Jiri
I am extremely sorry for not getting back to you, i just realize the fact that the time when i posted this blog i was trying to run the project immediately after adding the business module but when i rebuild the project and run it, its perfect. No problem at all.
I would like to thanks again for this excellent fix.
I am a newbie in Smart client technology so not went too far in using this framework but i will definately let you know if i came across any of the bug in it.

Thanks you for the fixed version.
However, in my old project The «Add View (with Presenter)» and «Add WPF-View (with Presenter)» recipes are not displayed.
Do I need to do any configuration for that?
Regards
Mohan
